The election is over and it appears as though the citizens of the Bicycle Nation can release their collectively held breath. Chalk one up for the non-haters! I suppose that my leanings are somewhat left, although politically I consider myself a centrist. But honestly, how can anyone who pays any attention have considered the Republican ticket? The hate and the fear mongering was just too much and I was truly scared that we would be forced in to another 8 years of the crap we have had for the past 8. Moving to Canada was not out of the question even though riding a bike is pretty tough for a lot of the year. Anyway, although the war is not over, we have won a mighty battle.
The thing I am looking forward to is having a President who is able to consider all options available for solving some of our biggest challenges. Something tells me that Barack Obama will consider non-motorized transportation as part of a variety of solutions to our foreign energy dependence and our obesity epidemic with its associated maladies of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
The Bicycle Nation will be on the forefront of the effort to move our country back on track. Get on your bikes and ride!
